PASSING THE BATON

The air was full of celebration in April as the 22nd Company of the Girls’ Brigade celebrated their fiftieth birthday. Sandra Chapple, Captain of the Company, stood down after seventeen years of sterling service. The captaincy will pass to Nola Lambert whose service in the company has been exemplary. We give thanks to God for all that Sandra has achieved and commit ourselves to supporting Nola as she takes up the rein of office in September.
A NECESSARY FORUM
At the time of writing the Parish is preparing for the General Easter Vestry . Over the years this annual general meeting of the Parish has been an invaluable forum of accountability and a source of electing people who serve on the oversight of the church. The outgoing Select Vestry was one of the most youthful in recent years with around half the members in their twenties and thirties. This is a reflection of the Parish as whole, with many young and active Parishioners in these age groups. We thank God that so many people across the age spectrum are prepared to give their time and talents to serve, to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ in His Church.SHIP TO SHORE
Operation Mobilisation’s newest vessel, Logos Hope, which was launched into ministry service in February, is on her way to Ireland. The ocean going ship with an international volunteer crew and staff will be docked in Dublin Port from 13th to 26th May and open to visitors. Mike Mullins, OM’s Director in Ireland writes, “At just the right time, when Ireland is battling fear and despair, we will welcome Logos Hope, a ship that is a symbol of the message it carries, a reminder that true hope can only be found in God. Through this visit we want to enrich every life we touch and let every person in Ireland know that there is hope”.The Word on Wednesday
