Final jump

This month we say our final farewell to Cathy Lewis, our Jump intern.  Cathy has been in the Parish since September as part of the Church of Ireland’s Youth Department Jump programme.  Cathy, from Larne in Co. Antrim, has pitched into our children and young people’s work alongside Wendy and Ian.  There is very little that Cathy has not done with children and young people and much that she has done.  She has brought vitality and colour to her rôle in the Parish and we thank God for her as she returns home to prepare for studies in Queen’s University, Belfast.  We are also grateful to Sheila and Peter Murphy, “Cathy’s Dublin parents”, who opened their home and their lives to her.

Cathy’s farewell is on Sunday 21st June after the 10.30 a.m. service.

Brunch, Brunch, Lovely Lunch

During the summer months of June, July and August the 10.00 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. Sunday services come together and regroup at 10.30 a.m. On Trinity Sunday, 7th June, a Brunch Lunch will be served after the first 10.30 a.m. service of summer, for us all to have table fellowship together: a time of getting to know people and building community.

The manifesto

Election posters abound in connection with the upcoming Local and European elections.  Each political party has a manifesto, a programme of policy and principles, which they lay before the electorate.  The Word on Wednesday series in Kill is based on Paul’s letter to the Ephesians and contains God’s Manifesto to unite all things in heaven and on earth in Jesus Christ.  It is a breathtaking plan which the Wednesday group are exploring together.

Deep Impact

We were greatly privileged to host and to share in CMS Ireland’s Roadshow Deep Impact In Mission last month.  The Roadshow is on a tour of Ireland, encouraging parishes and people to partner with the God of Mission.  Those who attended the event were encouraged by James Price and Niall Manogue to think locally and globally in reaching people with the good news of Jesus Christ. We trust that this initiative will have a deep impact in Kill and many other parishes.

The photos below were taken at the Roadshow launch meeting, in the Parish Centre on 5th May:

Last CuPpa
The Mothers’ Union Coffee Shop closed for the summer at the end of May. The Coffee Shop, which runs on Friday mornings, has had a most successful year. On many Fridays the shop has been a full house with people from within and without the Parish enjoying the fayre and fellowship. The Coffee Shop was nominated as a finalist in the Diocesan Mothers’ Union Branch Project Challenge. Above all, the Coffee Shop is about building community. Here’s to a summer rest and then a fresh brew in September!

Langham Partnership

The Langham Partnership, an agency to help the Two Thirds World Church in biblical patterns of leadership, will hold its June prayer meeting in Kill O’The Grange Parish Centre on Saturday 20th June at 7.30 p.m. The evening, which lasts one hour, is an opportunity to learn of the Langham Partnership’s work and also to pray for the work. All are welcome.
